Field notes

iomem64.sys is a kernel driver from ASUS, used by PC Probe and related motherboard monitoring and fan-control utilities. The driver provides low-level I/O memory access so the utility can read sensor data and manage hardware.

CVE-2024-41498 documents an arbitrary physical RAM read/write vulnerability: any local process can read and write physical memory through the driver's IOCTL interface. This is the same class of vulnerability that affects many hardware monitoring drivers, but here the access surface is particularly broad.

If you have an ASUS motherboard with the vendor monitoring utilities installed, the driver is expected. Update the ASUS software suite to the current version.

What the record shows

iomem64.sys is listed as a known-vulnerable driver on the public LOLDrivers project. 2 distinct binary hashes matching this filename are on record, meaning multiple versions of the file have been observed.

Public CVEs
What this means, plainly
Presence is not proof of misuse. Driver files on the LOLDrivers list commonly ship with legitimate hardware tools, gaming software, or vendor utilities. Their presence is recorded as evidence on a record. It is never treated as a verdict about a person.
