Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Vera. Plain and fair.

Who can use Vera

You must be at least 13 years old to use Vera. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware of and consents to your use. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you give us is accurate.

What Vera is (and is not)

Vera produces independent, inspectable evidence about what happened on a device during digital competition. It is a trust and proof layer. Vera is not an anti-cheat enforcer, a policing authority, or a guarantee about any person's conduct. Evidence is presented for people to inspect and interpret; Vera does not render verdicts about individuals.

The collector agent

Using Vera's proof features involves installing the Vera collector agent on a device you own or are authorized to manage. You agree to install it only on such devices and to use it lawfully. The agent collects the technical signals described in our Privacy Policy and nothing more. The agent is provided to you under the license included with it; the Privacy Policy describes what it collects.

Your account and content

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in email secure. Your profile is public by design, because a record only proves something if anyone can check it; you control what you publish to it, and you can delete your account and its content at any time. You retain ownership of content you submit. By publishing content on Vera, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, display, and distribute it for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.

Acceptable use

To keep Vera trustworthy for everyone, you agree not to:

• Falsify, tamper with, or attempt to manipulate evidence, proofs, or device data.
• Install the collector on devices you do not own or are not authorized to manage.
• Use Vera to harass, defame, or doxx anyone, or to misrepresent Vera's evidence.
• Probe, scan, or attempt to breach the Service, or interfere with its operation.
• Reverse engineer, resell, or build a competing service from the Service except where the law expressly permits it.
• Use the Service to break the law or to violate the rules of a game, platform, or competition you participate in.

Intellectual property

The Service, including the Vera name, brand, and original content, is owned by Vera Project LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't give you rights to our trademarks or brand beyond using the Service as intended.

Copyright and takedowns

We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe content on Vera infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@veraproject.xyz with enough detail to identify the work and the material, your contact information, and a good-faith statement. We will respond appropriately, which may include removing the material.

Third-party services

Vera links to and integrates with third-party services (for example, YouTube and Discord). Your use of those is governed by their terms, not ours, and we are not responsible for them.

Beta and changes to the Service

Vera is under active development and parts of it are in beta. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the Service may be unavailable at times. We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that evidence or proofs will be free of inaccuracies. You use the Service at your own discretion and risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vera Project LLC and its members, managers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, reputation, or opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Because Vera is provided to you free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vera from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

Termination

You may stop using Vera and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service and its community. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located there will have jurisdiction over disputes that are not otherwise resolved, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Vera evolves. When changes are material, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, give additional notice. Continuing to use Vera after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
