HaloInfinite
HaloInfinite.exe is the game client for Halo InfiniteGameHalo InfiniteOpen plate →, the 2021 entry developed by 343 Industries on the in-house Slipspace engine. Its multiplayer is free-to-play and launched ahead of the paid campaign.
Halo Infinite is a useful contrast to the kernel anti-cheat titles in this guide, because it deliberately does not use one. Its primary anti-cheat is 'Arbiter,' 343's own user-mode system. In an official write-up the studio stated plainly that its solution does not leverage a kernel driver, citing stability (a driver fault can crash the whole machine) and a goal of staying unobtrusive, while leaving the door open to revisiting that in future. Easy Anti-Cheat was added later, in 2024, and was enabled for Linux and Steam Deck through Proton, which is itself a sign it is the user-mode EAC runtime, since a kernel-mode anti-cheat would generally block Proton.
The trust ask is therefore lighter than a kernel-anti-cheat game: nothing here is documented to run from boot or to install a kernel driver. The trade-off, as with any user-mode approach, is that it catches a different and narrower set of cheats than a kernel anti-cheat does.
