Dead by Daylight is Behaviour InteractivePublisherBehaviour InteractiveBehaviour Interactive is the Canadian developer of Dead by Daylight, the asymmetric 4-versus-1 horror game. Dead by Daylight uses Easy Anti-Cheat, the only anti-cheat it has shipped, despite recurring player requests for BattlEye. EAC was added a couple of years after launch; the public record does not cleanly pin the exact year, so the honest statement is around 2018 to 2019. On Windows, EAC ships a kernel-mode driver alongside its user-mode service, both loading with the game. Behaviour reported banning more than 64,000 cheaters in 2022 in a January 2023 developer update, and has publicly acknowledged the cheating problem and its anti-cheat work. There has also been a false-positive conversation: players accused the studio of wrongful bans, and a Behaviour community manager responded that the claims were not accurate, stating players are not banned merely because someone cheated against them. As with any kernel anti-cheat, community reports cite EAC being tripped by ordinary background software (macro tools, overlays, or a memory editor left running from a single-player session), which is a reliability and false-positive concern rather than a security breach.
