cpuz.sys
CPU-Z hardware information driver
CPUZ.sys is the kernel driver used by CPU-Z, the popular hardware identification tool from CPUID. CPU-Z is one of the first tools many PC builders and overclockers install. It reads CPU, motherboard, memory, and graphics details that user-mode APIs do not expose.
Older versions are on the public LOLDrivers list because the driver provided more system access through its IOCTL interface than the user-facing tool actually needed. CPUID patched the driver in current CPU-Z releases.
If you have CPU-Z installed, this driver is expected. Update to the current CPU-Z release; the patched driver replaces the older one only on the machines where the update actually runs.
cpuz.sys is listed as a known-vulnerable driver on the public LOLDrivers project. 47 distinct binary hashes matching this filename are on record, meaning multiple versions of the file have been observed.
Status data comes from the public LOLDrivers project, a community-curated registry of drivers known to be vulnerable or malicious. The snapshot Vera uses was refreshed July 10, 2026. CVE links go to the NIST National Vulnerability Database.
